$ 6 million in government support announced for Chateau-Mont-Sainte-Anne Convention and Aqua-Recreational Projects Chateau-Mont-Sainte-Anne Convention Center and Aqua-Recreational Center
Québec, June 21, 2018 – Mrs. Caroline Simard, MLA for Charlevoix-Côte-de-Beaupré and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, in the name of Mrs. Julie Boulet, Minister of Tourism for the Quebec, announced the government support of $ 6 million for two important projects at Chateau Mont Sainte-Anne Resort.
Mrs. Simard announced the support from the Quebec Government and municipal authorities of $ 4 million for the expansion and modernization of the Mont-Sainte-Anne Convention Center.
Mrs. Simard also announced a grant of $ 1,9 million from the Quebec Government for the new Aqua-Recreational Center to be located adjacent to the convention center. This project costs are estimated at $ 6 million.
These two major projects are part of the $ 40 million development plan for the Château Mont-Sainte-Anne Resort, of which $ 22 million have already been invested, and will consolidate its position as the most important resort convention center in the province. The development plan also includes the renovation of 100 rooms, the modernisation of the front entrance exterior and lobby and reception area, as well as other common areas.
For the convention center, the investments will principally increase and modernize the current Conference Center to more than 23,000 square feet which, when added to the meeting space at the Château Mont-Sainte-Anne, will provide a total of 43,000 square feet of available space for meetings and events at the resort.
The financial assistance granted to the Château Mont-Sainte-Anne resort will also contribute to the development of a new four season aqua-recreational centre which will include outdoor and indoor pools, outdoor/indoor therapeutic baths and water activities, recreational and exercise facilities and a new all-season passageway between the lodging and reception building, the conference center and the aqua-recreational centre.
Construction work for the convention center will start in the fall and should be completed for spring of 2019. Architects Lemay Michaud will be responsible for the design and will manage and monitor the construction work.
For the Convention center project, these financial partners are involved:
• The Ministry of Tourism and Investissement Québec (IQ) will provide a 20-year loan of $ 2 million within the Programme d’appui au développement des attraits touristiques (PADAT).
• The City of Beaupré provides the financial assistance to support payments for the IQ PADATloan.
• The Fonds de diversification Résolu of the Ministry of Economy, Science and Innovation (MESI), in partnership with the City of Beaupré, provides a $ 1 million grant.
• The Côte-de-Beaupré RCM will participate with grants of $ 750,000, including $ 500,000 to support the project and $ 250,000 to support start-up and promotion costs.
• The Québec City Tourism (QCT), in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, will provide $ 200,000 grant to support the project.
“These investments at the convention center will enhance the quality and space available which will consolidate its market position as the most important resort convention facilities in the province. This will help the resort to increase the number of meetings, conventions, and sporting and social events for the entire Mont-Sainte-Anne destination.” Mr. Jean-François Ermel, chair of the Mont-Sainte-Anne Conference Center NPO board of directors.
“The City of Beaupré supports this project with the financial assistance to pay the $ 2 million IQ PADAT loan and its support to direct the $ 1 million grant from Fonds de diversification Résolu dedicated to the city of Beaupré. The City of Beaupré is proud to contribute to the expansion and renovation of the convention center as this will favor our tourism industry and will have impacts for the whole community.” Mr. Pierre Renaud, mayor of Beaupré.
“The renovation of the Mont-Sainte-Anne Convention Center will help the Côte-de-Beaupré region to regain its position as the dominant resort in the province for business tourism and a major destination for Eastern Canada and the NorthEastern USA. This will also complement the business tourism that already exists in the city of Québec and will provide an important increase to employment for the region.” Mr. Pierre Lefrançois, President Côte-de-Beaupré RCM and mayor of Ange-Gardien.
“The Convention center project is an important and triggering component of the resort hotel development program of more than $ 40 million, of which $ 22 million have already been invested. Construction for the convention Center should begin in the fall for completion in the spring of 2019. As for the next $ 15 million phase to complete the renovations of the entire resort hotel complex to make it a leading resort destination in Quebec, we anticipate to begin construction in the spring of 2019 for completion within a 9-12 months period.” Mr. Sébastien Roy, managing director of the Château Mont-Sainte-Anne.
